What we learned about San Luis, CO: 1) It is Colorado's first town, established in 1851! 2) The grocery store where we stopped is Colorado's oldest continuously operated business, started along with the town. It still occupies the original building. 3) San Luis features a gorgeous hike up to the top of a mesa where there is a church overlooking the town, valley, and mountains. The hike became magical when it started to snow while the sun was still shining (this had also happened earlier in the day while we were riding). It was a day of strange and beautiful weather.
